The Beginning

My story begins in the kitchen where I love to spend time creating recipes and preparing delicious food for friends and family, especially desserts and sauces. I am Karol Brannen owner of BrannenGourmet.

In the beginning, everyone who tried my desserts loved them so much that they began to request them for dinners, parties or just to enjoy at home. Soon, the demand for my recipes and desserts increased so much that in the early 1980’s I rented a building, put in a kitchen, and opened a wholesale bakery in Santa Cruz, Ca. I loved baking and taking my recipes from my kitchen to the tables of my customers. After several years, I left the profession to explore other opportunities.

Welcome Paradise Pepper Sauce

Years passed, careers have come and gone, but my passion for creating new recipes and indulging my friends and family never diminished. I have always been a fan of sweet and spicy; it's perfect with so many foods. In 2000, I began experimenting with blending sweet and hot peppers to create a unique sauce similar to a pepper jelly. The sauce would eventually come to be Paradise Pepper Sauce.

Every Christmas I would make dozens of jars to give as gifts to family and friends. It did not take them long to realize that this wonderful sauce was so versatile that they could use it on everything, hence the demand to make more Pepper Sauce. Finally, in 2009, along with my husband, Vince as Chief Taster and Prep Cook, I started KB’s Kitchen and began producing Paradise Pepper Sauce right here in Chico, California, home of Sierra Nevada Brewery.

Introducing BrannenGourmet & Two New Flavors

The response to our Paradise Pepper Sauce has been more than amazing. In 2010 we changed our company name to BrannenGourmet to represent our commitment to quality, gourmet products and to build a base for expanding to more products. We also introduced two new Paradise Pepper Sauce flavors, Spicy Cranberry and Sweet Habanero. Our products can now be found in Redding/Palo Cedro, Chico, Paradise, Oroville, Live Oak, Colusa and at local food fairs, and we are adding new locations all the time.

Our Ongoing Philosophy

We take pride in using California-grown, quality ingredients for our sweet & spicy Paradise Pepper Sauces. Our gourmet sauces are hand crafted the old fashion way with each pepper hand selected, washed, cored and sliced. We make small batches to insure quality and superior taste in every jar of Paradise Pepper Sauce.

I have always had a sense of joy seeing faces light up in surprise when they take that first bite of something they don’t expect could be so delicious. We think you will agree it is the closest thing to heaven in a jar.
